help wanted.

Ok, I still need to do a blog post about some sweet adventures in L.A. ... but before I do, I would love to get your opinion. I am looking for your list of three artists that you consider similar to my music. (I'll be using it as a point of reference for people who have never heard my stuff.) Bonus: I will send you a free download in exchange! If you're in:

1) Click here to preview the newest songs.

2) Leave a blog comment below with your list of your three similar artists.

3) Email me at stephaniemabeymusic@gmail.com and I'll send over an mp3 as a thank you!

Piece of cake :) (You can also check out YouTube.com/StephanieMabey for live versions of a few songs.)

Thanks!!!

  1. This is harder than it appears, or I just listen to far too much obscure stuff. The only one that really jumped out at me was the first one. The other two are stretches, but since nobody else is playing along yet...

    1. Allie Moss
    2. A Fine Frenzy
    3. Wendy Waldman

    (Yeah, I know...'Who'? EXACTLY!)

  2. It's crazy hard for me... which is why I appreciate you taking the time to leave a list!!! I'm truly in need of a good brainstorm today. Thanks :) Shoot an email to StephanieMabeyMusic@gmail.com (or leave your email address here) and I'll send over your download!

  3. Hey Steph,
Yeah, it's tough to say you sound like anyone else, but I here's a list of artists I would group you with in a Playlist. :-)

    -Ingrid Michaelson
    -Tanya Donelly (here latest work)
    -Patty Griffin

  4. Thanks, Kevin!!! I think that a 'playlist group' is a great way to look at it. I'm sending you a brand new tune I think you and Michelle will dig :) (I'm recording it on my laptop this afternoon...)

  5. No need. I already purchased a hard copy of the EP. :-)

  6. Well, thank you for that! How about the brand new song I'm sending to Kevin this afternoon? It will be a limited edition crappy laptop recording and everything. :)

  8. This is much more difficult than I thought it to be! While the genre of music you do is pretty common, you have a sound which is pretty much all your own, which is a good thing.

If I had to go with a list of three I'd go with Hana Pestle, Christine Evans, and Anna Nalick.

I figure you're probably looking for someone with name recognition, and the person I found to most fit that would be Nalick, although Pestle and Evans might be better pure matches.

If I come up with anything else, I'll chime in again. :)

  10. Hey Steph, I love the new song. I'm captivated by the unique perspectives/points-of-view that you're taking on many of your new songs.

  12. I would say you could be grouped with:
    1)Priscilla Ahn
2)Lyndsi Ann Bromley Bennion (depending on the song)
    3)Cheri Magill
